"Every part of this earth is sacred to my people. The open plains and wooded savannah, every mist in the dark woods, every clearing and humming insect is sacred to the memory and spirit of my people. You may think that you own the land. But you cannot. He is the God of man. And his compassion is equal for all men. The earth is precious to Him and to harm the earth is to heap contempt on its creator."

A SIMPLE PHILOSOPHY

The vision of Seaton Thomson and Associates is to assist with the future development and economic growth of South Africa, by providing a variety of professional support services, specifically in the arenas of tourism development, conservation and environmental planning. A further vision of the company is the upliftment of previously disadvantaged communities, to enable them to become important role players in tourism and environmental planning and integrated into the growth of the new South Africa.

The components of land, people, wildlife and resources are vital issues in relation to the future development of southern Africa. In order to achieve stability and sustainable growth within these elements, it is fundamental that we recognise the inter-relationship and interdependence of all living things.

Tourism into southern Africa is destined to become a dynamic growth industry, which is bound to have substantial impact on these components. However, the attainment of an economically viable and successful tourism operation is dependent on a holistic approach to the planning, marketing and operation of such ventures. It must also recognise the role of communities, the land and the value of the environment.

Private individuals, companies and the public sector must all play a leading role in the expansion and development of ecotourism resorts and activities. However, it is imperative that a professional attitude be adopted by developers and project managers when targeting sophisticated local and international markets. In order to achieve this, professional advice and consultation is necessary to secure optimal viability and good management structures. The philosophy and objectives of Seaton Thomson and Associates is, therefore, to provide the defined range of consultancy functions which will promote, focus and advise the ecotourism entrepreneur.
